Above: Handmade gnocchi are rolled out every Thursday at Nostrana in Portland, Oregon.
Beyond the wine, one of the things that I love the most about what I do for a living is community. Thanks to social media, there is a virtual network of wine professionals across the U.S. (and the world, for that matter) that is ever ready to lend a hand with recommendations and information.
Yesterday morning, I wrote to a Willamette winemaker (whom I know through blogging) and within a matter of hours I had a recommendation for the perfect place to do a Franciacorta Real Story tasting in Portland (Oregon).
I swiftly tracked down and contacted the general manager through Facebook and by the end of my day (in Texas) we confirmed our date for tasting Franciacorta wines there on a thread with him and the restaurant’s wine director.
One email, one Facebook message, and a quick email thread and the date and venue were in place.
I’m thrilled to share the news that I will pouring Franciacorta wines on Monday, September 12 at Nostrana, the city’s go-to for authentic Italian cuisine and wines. The only bummer is that I won’t be there on a Thursday when they make the gnocchi!
Details forthcoming. RSVP not required but if you want to shoot me an email (so that I can get a head-count), please click here.
SUPER BIG HEARTFELT THANKS to the folks at Nostrana for being so welcoming and supportive. I love your city and can’t wait to get back there.
